Due to the high velocity of the liquid spray jet discharged from both pepper spray canisters and training canisters. Failing to follow the 5 foot rule may result in permannent blindness, death or other serious injury. The 5 feet minimum distance is measured from the end of the nozzle to the face of the assailant.
